A Comprehensive Benefits Program
At Nova Southeastern University, we believe that our greatest strength lies in our people. That’s why we’ve developed a comprehensive and competitive benefits program designed to support your overall well-being—personally, professionally, and financially.
Our benefits offerings go beyond the basics, providing access to high-quality medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with retirement savings plans that help you plan confidently for the future. We also offer generous time-off policies, including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and additional paid leave options, to support a healthy work-life balance.
Whether you're focused on your health, planning for retirement, or looking for resources to support your family and lifestyle, NSU’s benefits are here to give you the peace of mind and support you need—every step of the way.
Benefits 101
Important Deadlines
- Newly hired employees have only 30 days from their date of hire to enroll in benefits.
- For a full list of benefits, perks, and discounts and eligibility/policy, see the NSU Benefits Summary sheet (PDF).
- Newly hired employees are encouraged to attend a New Employee Orientation session to learn about all the benefits NSU offers. Reach out to your Human Resource Contact or supervisor for more details (Attending a session that is past 30 days from hire date will not extend the opportunity to enroll in benefits).
- Dependent verification is required for dependent children, spouses, or domestic partners when being added to employee benefits through NSU/ICUBA.
- Benefits become active the 1st of the month coincident with or following month of hire. If a premium deduction is missed, arrears will be collected.
- Current employees experiencing a qualifying life event must request changes within 30 days of the event and upload the requested documentation to their Employee File to support the change in status.
- Retirement plan enrollment, changes or balance check are made through TIAA.
- If you separate from the University, most of your benefits will end at midnight on the last day of the month during which the separation occurs. You will be billed for the full month's premiums. Income Protection coverage (Basic and Voluntary Life/AD&D, Disability) ends on the date of separation. Note: If at the time of separation you are enrolled in a Medicare plan, Medicare will become your primary insurer effective date of separation.
- Notification for eligibility to continue coverage under the provisions of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) will be sent to you via US Mail within 14 days of your last date of employment. See COBRA Premiums (PDF).
