Congratulations on joining Nova Southeastern University. Now that you are part of the Shark family, it’s time to explore NSU’s comprehensive benefits package. We’ve made it simple by outlining everything you need to know to start enjoying your benefits.

Important Information

  • You have 30 days from your hire date to enroll in benefits through your ICUBA Enrollment Portal.
  • Your information may take a few days to process before enrollment begins.
  • If you enroll later in the enrollment period, a missed premium payment will be collected retroactively from your hire date.

How to Enroll in Benefits

You can now access your benefits through NSU’s Single Sign-On SharkLink (View screenshot). Once logged in, you can manage everything in the ICUBA Benefit Portal, including:

  • New benefit elections
  • Benefit election changes
  • Life insurance beneficiary updates
  • HRA & FSA balances
  • Prescription pharmacy benefits

New Employee Benefit Eligibility and Effective Dates

If you’re eligible for benefits, you have 30 days from your hire date to make your elections. If you miss this window, your next chance will be during NSU's Annual Open Enrollment or after experiencing a Qualified Life Event.

Who is Eligible

  • Employees working 19.2 to 27.9 hours/week can elect all benefits except medical.
  • Employees working 28+ hours/week can elect all benefits, including medical.

Benefit Effective Dates

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and FSA: Eligibility starts on your hire date if hired before 3/31/2022, or the first of the month following your hire date if hired after 4/1/2022.
  • Life Insurance & Disability: Begin after 90 days of employment.
  • 401(k) Contributions: Non-matched contributions begin the first of the month after your hire date, while matched contributions start the first of the month following your one-year anniversary. Learn more about retirement savings.

Benefit Premium Collection

The premiums for medical, dental, vision, and flexible spending are assessed retroactively from the date you become eligible. Please consider the following after you make your benefit selections:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Flex Spending premiums are collected retroactively to your eligibility date.
  • NSU collects premium payments for the current month only. The first two pay dates each month cover that month’s premium.
  • Depending on your hire date, retroactive premium collection may apply.

Strive – Powered by Virgin Pulse

Strive is NSU’s wellness program designed to inspire you and your spouse/domestic partner to lead a healthier lifestyle. Through Virgin Pulse, Strive provides personalized challenges, wellness resources, and incentives to encourage a well-rounded lifestyle.
