Your BCBSF health plan provides access to quality care and lower costs, especially when you choose doctors, labs, and hospitals in your provider network. Throughout your pregnancy journey, from your first obstetrician visit to childbirth, there are three primary categories of costs.

  1. Physician Services for Labor and Delivery
    • Your obstetrician may request prepayment of your portion of anticipated labor and delivery charges. You may also have the option to make partial payments throughout your pregnancy.
    • The amount you are responsible for will be based on where you stand with your deductible and coinsurance.
    • To view the current status of your deductible, visit My Health Toolkit and log in to your member account.
  2. Hospital Charges
    • Hospital costs for labor and delivery are billed separately based on your deductible and coinsurance, as outlined in your benefits summary.
    • Your doctor’s office can provide a receipt of payments made toward your deductible to ensure the hospital doesn't bill you for amounts you've already paid. To view your benefits summary, log in to My Health Toolkit, select the Benefits tab, and click Eligibility and Benefits.
  3. Routine Office Visits
    • Choosing an in-network obstetrician requires a one-time copayment at your initial visit, which covers all routine obstetrician visits throughout your pregnancy, including two ultrasounds.
  4. To locate a doctor in your network, log in to My Health Toolkit, select Resources, then Find a Doctor or Hospital. To start your search, enter “ICI” as the first three letters of your Member ID.
