How to Request an Insurance ID Card

Once you’re enrolled in any of our medical pans, all ID cards will be mailed within 7-14 business days.

If you need an ID card sooner for an upcoming appointment, you can:

  • Download an electronic copy through the BCBS My Health Toolkit Portal (SSN required).
  • Request a physical card by calling BCBS Customer Service at 855-258-9029 or the BCBS Essential Advocate at 888-521-2583

If there’s a delay and you need care, you may pay out-of-pocket and submit a reimbursement request based on your plan coverage through the ICUBA Benefits Portal through Sharklink.

Insurance Updates

Medical insurance is typically updated at the end of the business day following your new hire enrollment or the approval of a life event by the Office of Human Resources.

For example, a life event approved on Friday will be updated in BCBS’s system by Monday, with coverage active on Tuesday (effective dates depend on submitted documentation).
