Students can earn credit toward their general education, major, and elective requirements by passing standardized subject exams. These tests include the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Digital Subject Standardized Test (DSST), and New York University language exams.

If you plan to use one of these examinations as a prerequisite for a more advanced course, you must pass the exam before you can register for the course.

Important Reminders:

To ensure you receive credit, please keep the following in mind:

  • Always contact your academic adviser before taking any examination to verify which tests are eligible for credit.
  • The credits granted for each examination will vary.
  • You must provide official test scores to the university to receive credit.
  • Your academic adviser can help you verify how the credits will be applied to your degree.
