NSU CREATE celebrated the opening of its headquarters at the NSU Miramar Campus on September 15, 2015.

We were honored to welcome Dean Wilson as our Master of Ceremonies. Dr Meline Kevorkian, NSU Associate Provost, gave poignant remarks about the scourge of Human Trafficking in Florida and about the important need NSU CREATE was addressing.

Our distinguished guest speakers and CREATE long-time partners were Nabil El Sanadi, M.D., President and CEO, Broward Health; Maria Clara Rodriguez, M.S., Project GOLD Director, Kristi House Miami; and Corey Steinberg, J.D., Assistant United States Attorney, Southern District of Florida.

Many NSU, community and law enforcement representatives as well as representatives from the Community Foundation of Broward and the Broward Junior league attended this celebration. It was a fantastic show of support for the work NSU CREATE is doing addressing the need for human trafficking awareness and victim support and services.

In recognition of "Be an Angel Day" on August 22, 2015, NSU CREATE organized a collection drive for feminine hygiene products.

The majority of survivors of human trafficking are women and girls who need our support.

Collection bins were placed at the Health Professions Division and at the College of Psychology. Our Fort Myers and Orlando campuses joined as did the Junior League of Broward.

Items collected were packaged into backpacks and delivered to the Office of Victims Assistance, Homeland Security.
