Creating Music With Loops

Would you like to learn how to use loops to create original music? If so, then join us for this fun and creative session as we explore the many possibilities of layering cool and interesting sounds. We’ll use loops that feature beats, bass lines, chord changes, drum kits, synth riffs, lead lines, and even vocals to produce a fresh sonic tapestry, just like in the music industry. You won’t want to miss this!

Hosted by exhibiting artist Pablo Matute. This workshop explores the use of natural materials found in the local landscape of South Florida. This workshop will include a personal tour of the exhibition by the artist himself and a creative insight into the artist's process of creating these specific works for the exhibition. In addition to this, you will also have the opportunity to create your very own collage works as you explore and learn about this unique and recognizable material.

Take a "behind the scenes" tour of the Performing and Visual Arts areas within the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts inside the University Center. You'll visit the Black Box Theatre, where multiple performances occur; the Scene Shop, where scenes are designed and built; the Costume Shop and Prop Shops, where many costumes and stages props are kept; Gallery 217, where exhibits are on display all year long; and many more spaces where campus creatives work!

Come talk with staff at the NSU Writing and Communication Center about what you can and can’t do with AI tools such as ChatGPT as you complete college writing assignments. We’ll share some approaches to using AI you may not have considered and provide guidance about how to ethically navigate instructor expectations and protect yourself from accusations of plagiarism when using AI tools for writing.
