Lannie Walker joined NSU in April of 2025 as a communications writer and editor. In her role, Lannie focuses on crafting communications from the president’s office and supports both internal and external communications for NSU’s 14 colleges and NSU Health. She also works closely with the PR content team to produce and spread a wide variety of NSU news and information.

Lannie’s passion for storytelling was born during her time as a journalist. From working as a newspaper reporter in her home state of Minnesota, to anchoring a live nightly news broadcast for an NBC affiliate on the island of Guam, Lannie’s career has provided her an opportunity to meet and interview people from around the world. Some of her favorite adventures include reporting from Beijing and Shanghai China and ashore the remote island of Pagan in the Northern Mariana Island archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean.

Lannie also has a background in communications having worked in the news relations office at the University of Minnesota and most recently in corporate communications at Broward Health.

When not exploring all the fascinating stories at NSU, she likes to discover the many adventures that South Florida has to offer with her family, including her daughter Ocean, named after Lannie’s love of the sea and nature.

Lannie holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in communications from the University of Florida.
