@nova.edu Alumni Email Benefit FAQ

Why is the University discontinuing the @nova.edu alumni email benefit?

For the past year, NSU has reviewed the current lifelong email benefit provided to our alumni. We learned that fewer than 10% of the alumni had accessed this benefit over the past three years.  As the University planned its update to the student email service, we determined that this service was no longer a meaningful benefit to our alumni community.  To minimize the inconvenience of this change, we are providing 3 months’ notice to our alumni to transition any contacts and documents from their @nova.edu email address and additional Microsoft product suite to other service providers. We continue to look for valuable benefits and offerings to provide to our 170,000 alumni around world. Your @nova.edu email address retires on September 1, 2017.  After this date, you will not be able to access your @nova.edu account or retrieve any email or file content on this platform.
Update your contact information with your preferred email by or before September 1; that way, you can stay informed about events and Alumni Association benefits.
There are tools used by the NSU Alumni Association (NSUAA) to communicate with our alumni community such as the NSUAA newsletter, NSU Connect, and NSU Chats. We also host over 60 events every year for alumni, including all of the NSU regional centers, several metro-chapters, and collaborations with individual college units. For more information about events and alumni benefits visit our website at https://alumni.nova.edu/index

Important to note:

  • Alumni users that request the email continuance will retain their @nova.edu email address until December 1st. After this date, their mailbox will be converted to @mynsu.nova.edu email address. Email sent to their @nova.edu will not be delivered after the mailbox conversion.  
  • All alumni email accounts must comply with our password policy and users must login to their email account at least once every six months.
  • Accounts not used for one hundred and eighty (180) days will be disabled.
  • This account will only provide email services. OneDrive and Office applications are not included.
