Before You Depart

Health and Safety Abroad

Your health and safety are important to us while you are on your international experience. This area provides you with useful links related to these two important elements. Please read carefully and take all details into account.

health

  • Check that the Health Insurance you are getting through your program will be comprehensive and reliable.
  • Purchase a good Travel Insurance Policy. Check International Student Insurance and purchase it BEFORE you depart.
  • Make a doctor’s appointment and get a thorough check-up to ensure you are in good health.
  • Fill all your prescriptions and make sure you bring copies of those prescriptions with you.
  • Check your destination country’s immunization requirements (if any) and make sure you get all the necessary inoculations.
  • If you wear glasses or contact lenses, make sure you bring your prescription with you in case you lose or break them.
  • Check on Water and Food Advisories for the country you will be visiting.

It is very important that before you depart the USA you take time to learn about your country of destination's safety issues, and any other elements that may prove unsafe while you are there.

Some issues to keep in mind:

Travel Registration

Access the NSU Travel Registration page on the NSU website and complete all the required steps.
