Visit the Bursar's Office for more policies and payment information or email bursar@nova.edu.

  • Every term, SACM will require an invoice of your tuition and fees. In order for NSU to send this invoice to SACM every term, you must contact the Office of the Bursar EVERY time you register. The best way to do this is by visiting the One-Stop-Shop at the Horvitz or Terry buildings, or by sending an e-mail to the Bursar's Officer: bursar@nova.edu to let them know that you have registered. When you write your message, please include your NSU ID number. This action will automatically generate an invoice that will be sent to SACM. You must do this every term to avoid unpaid accounts and a hold that will prevent you from being able to register for the next term’s courses. If you are not registered for classes each term, you will fall out of immigration status.
  • SACM also requires students to submit an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT at the beginning of every term. You are responsible for adhering to this regulation, and must request your transcript from the One-Stop Shop and send it directly to your adviser at SACM.

Important: Please follow these instructions carefully. If you fail to complete these two steps, SACM will NOT make the corresponding payment and a HOLD will be placed on your account.

Important Registration Information (SACM Policies)

Undergraduate Students

  • Undergraduate students are only permitted to take up to 12 credit hours of online courses throughout their entire 4-year program of study.

  • Graduate students are only permitted to take up to 6 credit hours of online courses throughout their entire program of study.
  • Graduate students are required to be enrolled in 9 credit hours per term on order to maintain their scholarship.

Scholarships

International students may be eligible for various scholarships. Many free online databases list scholarships from private, corporate, nonprofit, and government organizations.

Be wary of offers that require upfront fees or personal financial information. The U.S. Department of Education and Finaid offer tips and resources to protect students from dishonest organizations

Prioritize free databases to access a wide range of scholarship opportunities. Invest time in researching and applying to suitable scholarships. By carefully considering these factors, international students can increase their chances of securing financial aid to support their academic pursuits.

Private Loans

International students may consider private loans as a financing option. Various organizations and institutions offer loans, often tailored to specific regions or countries.

Important Considerations

  • Co-Signer Requirement: Typically, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident must co-sign the loan.
  • Creditworthiness: The co-signer's credit history and income stability significantly impact loan approval.

For more information on private loan options, please visit International Education and Financial Aid.

Important Note: NSU does not endorse any specific lender. It's essential to carefully research and compare loan terms to find the best fit for your financial needs.

Tax Responsibilities

All F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars who were present in the U.S. during any portion of the past calendar year are required to file tax forms with the United States federal government. This is true for students who worked in the U.S., gained income in the U.S., or received a scholarship during the past calendar year.
