NSU HIPAA Privacy Policies Overview
The HIPAA Privacy Policies apply to Nova Southeastern University’s covered Health Care Components (HCCs) and those working on behalf of the HCCs for purposes of complying with the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
The NSU HIPAA Privacy Policies apply to all Workforce Members within the HCCs and those working on behalf of the HCCs. Certain members of the workforce may provide services through or for both the HCCs and non-covered components. These policies apply to such Workforce Members when they are providing services through, or for the covered NSU HCCs. Workforce Members who perform dual roles may not share PHI with the non-covered components, or use PHI when providing services for a non-covered component unless permitted by the HIPAA Privacy Regulations as set forth in the NSU HIPAA Privacy Policies. The NSU HIPAA Privacy Policies supersede and replace any existing policies and procedures of any NSU HCC relating to the use and disclosure of PHI.
