Frequently Asked Questions

Trainees can select any mentor from the list of mentors.  The process begins with a trainee selecting up to three mentors and then meeting with them.  Subsequently, the trainee rank orders their selection and the Executive Committee works to pair the trainee with their preferred mentor. 

Each cohort will start their participation in the U-RISE@NSU program in April/May, between their sophomore and junior year.  It will run for the next 24 months.

Participants in the U-RISE receive a stipend of $14,340 per year and up to $16,000 in tuition support per year.  In addition, travel funds (e.g., to national meetings) and publication costs are provided.

For the most part, there are no vacations.  The normal NSU holidays are observed and you can arrange some vacation time with your mentor.  Otherwise, this is a 12 month job, including summers.
