Discover a World of BEDI Events and Programming

As the academic year begins and our university community reunites, we invite faculty, staff, and students to dive into a rich array of events and programming designed to foster a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. August is a prime time to reconnect and engage with initiatives promoting belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI) as we transition from summer break. Here are some notable commemorations this August.

  • International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (August 9): Join us in recognizing the vibrant cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples worldwide. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about their rights and celebrating their enduring heritage.
  • International Youth Day (August 12): Focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing young people worldwide, emphasizing the role of youth in advancing social and economic progress.
  • Women's Equality Day (August 26): Commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment in the U.S., which granted women the right to vote, and highlights ongoing efforts toward gender equality.
