Retention Initiatives

Academic Success Coaching

Academic Success Coaches meet one-on-one with undergraduates to build rapport, educate students about university-wide resources and develop personal plans to facilitate student success. This program is open to all undergraduate students. 

Shark Mentoring

The purpose of this invitation only program is to facilitate and foster a mentoring relationship between students and faculty. This program is designed to increase academic success and engagement by providing supportive resources.

Academically Challenged Outreach

The purpose of this program is to provide an intensive case management format which allows students on academic probation to receive one-on-one attention from an academic success coach. A wraparound referral system is implemented to support students successfully return to good academic standing.

Tools for Success Workshops

Tools for Success is a series of workshops designed to assist students in adapting to university life and ultimately achieving degree completion. The workshop series includes but is not limited to sessions on time management, goal setting, study skills and learning styles, and strategies for having success in online courses.

Early Alert System

This program is designed for faculty to identify and refer students who are not attending class on a regular basis or are experiencing difficulties that might impact their academic performance in a negative manner. In turn, students who are referred receive outreach from the Office of Undergraduate Student Success and various student support offices. 

Undergraduate Student Success Fair

Save the Date: Wednesday, September 17th for the Fall 2014 Fair.

The purpose of this annual event is for undergraduate students to interact in a fun and exciting manner with representative from numerous student support offices while learning information that will help them succeed and earn their degree.
