NSU University School VIEWPOINT Spring 2019

20 USCHOOL ARTS participate in our media fellowships and internships, WUTV is the ultimate opportunity to employ their skills and build a portfolio.” U-Media Production Company U-Media trains our students at a professional level in every department of media production. The dedicated students in this company are diving deep into their varied areas of interest, including directing, producing, writing, cinematography, sound engineering, lighting design, and visual effects. U-Media students will soon have the opportunity to deliver their original short films and documentaries at festivals around the world, including the NSU Shark Film Fest. With our state-of-the-art recording studio, complete with a vocal booth and post-production audio suite, our students can record Automated Dialog Replacement for post-production, generate Foley sound effects to rebuild sound environments, and record and produce original music with vocal tracks and instrumentation. The recording studio will soon open its doors to students and teachers for the production of original podcasts, audiobooks, and radio shows. As Swerdlow explains, “U-Media aims to empower our students to become global leaders in student media production.” U-Agency Advertising U-Agency is structured like a traditional advertising agency and fueled by the same purpose: to create modern and effective marketing materials that please clients and connect with audiences in new and meaningful ways. Students in this agency work collaboratively using the tools of digital arts imaging to create, strategize, and execute their marketing campaigns. While U-Agency’s top client is USchool, advanced students will be encouraged and empowered to secure clients within NSU and the larger South Florida community. All students who participate in UStudio create professional media-industry resumes based on their learning and production skills and learn to deliver workplace professionalism at the highest standard. The dynamic, challenging, and rewarding experiences these students garner mirror those they will encounter in their media-driven careers. “At the same time, we’re empowering students to be self- directed learners, strong collaborators, and thoughtful producers of meaningful content,” said Swerdlow.
