SPONSORED FUNDING The university’s sponsored funding for research, community services, and teaching/training activities totaled $107,693,711 for FY 2018. Over the past decade, total active external funding increased by 124 percent, from $48 million in FY 2009 to $107.7 million in FY 2018. Of the FY 2018 total, 55% or $59,048,845 supports research, and 41% or $43,994,689 is funded by the federal government. The university is receiving funding from 89 agencies and organizations. The Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography and the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine tied as the largest recipients of sponsored funding, each with 36% of the total. In FY 2018, there were 217 proposals processed through the NSU Office of Sponsored Programs.
