74 NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Do’s and Don’ts Since our first seminar, we have made some observations on what works and what doesn’t with annotating PDFs. We’ve shown you the Do’s. Using them has made working with PUB smoother for all involved. Jobs have gone through more quickly, saving time and money and causing less miscommunication. Success all around! But, there’s always room for improvement. Now, let’s look at some of the Don’ts. Happily, it’s a small list. 1. DON’T USE A LOT OF BUBBLES. The bubble is an icon that should be used sparingly. It is imprecise. Other icons, such as the insert, the delete, the replace, or even the “Add note to text” can get the point across without using extraneous language or comments. Also, they don’t move, which the bubbles often do. The advantage of using the correct icons is precision. You use fewer words and can make sure that everything is just where and how you want it.
