NSU Style Manual and Publications Service Guide

NSU STYLE MANUAL  i FOREWORD This official NSU Style Manual serves as your guide to ensure that all written work originating from our university, whether in print or digital form, promotes our university’s standards for clear, consistent communication. This manual not only embodies NSU’s shared values and commitment to academic integrity, but also reflects a culture of intellectual rigor, respect for ideas, and the pursuit of knowledge. It uses The Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) as its preferred style source and MerriamWebster’s Collegiate Dictionary (MW) as its preferred dictionary. These are the two most-commonly cited sources in other university style manuals, and both have online versions that are continually being updated. Within the pages of this manual, you’ll discover guidance on a wide array of topics, ranging from spelling and grammar to referencing styles and inclusive language usage. It’s a versatile tool designed to support not only seasoned scholars and professionals, but also those just embarking on their academic journey. By adhering to the guidelines and recommendations presented here, we ensure that our collective work consistently upholds the highest standards of excellence and professionalism. We encourage all members of our university community to embrace this style manual as a resource. For more information, please visit nova.edu/publications or scan the QR code on this page. I
