9 2021 NOMINEES FOR NSU Regional Campus Student of the Year (CONTINUED) Karen Gonzales—NSU Palm Beach Campus Karen Gonzales is a student at the College of Computing and Engineering and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in information systems. She has been involved with NSU through the Palm Beach Campus, serving the student body first as public relations chair, then as president of the Palm Beach SGA. Nova Southeastern University is special to Gonzales because it has allowed her to network with students and alumni from different academic areas, making a major impact on her future career. Her greatest contribution is that she can be the voice of the students on the Palm Beach Campus, exemplifying core values such as diversity and opportunity through multicultural events and bringing the student community together during these times. Sasha Babilonia, B.S.—NSU Puerto Rico Regional Campus Sasha Babilonia Acevedo has a bachelor’s degree in biology with a concentration in biomedics from the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla. She has been a pharmacy student and part of the administration faculty at NSU’s Puerto Rico Regional Campus since 2019. Babilonia is president of Regional SGA, where she represents the needs of the students. In the College of Pharmacy, she is the secretary of the National Community Pharmacist Association. Babilonia has been on the Dean’s List for two semesters and was awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship in 2020. She is part of the Christmas for Children of My Community Committee and has donated food for families in need during the COVID-19 lockdown. At NSU, she has grown professionally and personally, while doing what she loves most, helping her community. Kayleigh Hollywood—NSU Tampa Bay Regional Campus Kayleigh Hollywood has been a student in the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences since 2018 pursuing her doctorate in occupational therapy with an expected graduation of December 2021. Her greatest contributions to NSU have been her involvement as a proud member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Pi Theta Epsilon Honor Society, the Florida Area Health Education Center Scholars Program, and Golden Key International Honour Society. She exemplifies NSU’s Core Values by earning placement on the Academic Dean’s List and Chancellor’s List. She has committed over 800 hours to community service and doctoral-level research. Nova Southeastern University is special to her because of the lifelong relationships she has formed. The most rewarding aspect about her affiliation with the university was getting voted in as the American Occupational Therapy Association representative by her occupational therapy program.
