8 2021 NOMINEES FOR NSU Regional Campus Student of the Year Jessica Christine Adcock—NSU Fort Myers Campus Jessica Adcock is a fourth-semester bachelor’s in nursing program student in the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing at Nova Southeastern University. She has about a year left for her undergraduate education, is on her way toward obtaining a license as a Registered Nurse, and is graduating in May of 2022. Adcock is an Honor Society Student with an outstanding GPA and the treasurer for Fort Myers SGA. She is also a full-time work study student for NSU Fort Myers Campus Student Affairs Office, reaching out to the students and working on making a positive impact for the school. Adcock says that “NSU is a university that motivates you to be the best that you can possibly be, and everyone there is dedicated to helping students shoot for the stars.” Bradley Scott Boutcher, B.S.—NSU Jacksonville Campus Brad Boutcher has been a student in the Nova Southeastern University Jacksonville Physician Assistant Program since May of 2019. He was elected the president of the Jacksonville Physician Assistant Program SGA in July of 2019 and currently holds the position of 2021 class president. He has worked on fundraising for the Bahamas and disaster relief with Team Rubicon; organizing class events and socials; preparing underclassmen for success through mentorship, panel discussions, and lectures; and helping with faculty-student relations. He stated that the most rewarding aspect of his position as SGA class president was that it allowed him to be actively involved with his fellow students, their goals, and their education. He believes that what makes NSU Jacksonville unlike any other program are the faculty members, who are truly the backbone of this institution. Jacquelyn Marquez—NSU Miami Campus Jacquelyn Marquez is the SGA president at NSU’s Miami Campus. She is in the fourth semester of her B.S.N. and has been affiliated with the university since 2019. Marquez has been involved in numerous community service programs, including Nicklaus Children’s and Baptist Health South Florida volunteer programs. A key element that makes NSU special to Marquez is the fact that everyone knows each other, so it feels more like a family than a school. The most rewarding aspect for her is being able to make a difference on campus and hearing students bring good feedback about those changes. This is because she exhibits the NSU student center core value the most. When planning for changes, Marquez takes into consideration what the students want, because to her, the students being happy with the changes are what means the most. Stephanie Collado—NSU Orlando Campus Stephanie Collado is a second-year Physician Assistant student at NSU Orlando’s Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences who began her studies at NSU in May of 2019. She currently serves as president of Orlando’s Regional Student Government Association and vice president of the PA SGA class of 2021. In September 2020, she received the David Bevins Commitment Award by the physician assistant graduating class of 2021 for her selfless and tireless contributions to the PA profession, patients, and future PAs. Despite the unique challenges brought forth by the global pandemic, Collado has continually exemplified NSU’s Core Values of Student Centered and Community by planning and setting up Innovative (another core value), safe, and socially distanced Grab Bag/ Take-Home events with executive board members that all NSU Orlando students can enjoy.
