5 NSU SHARK PREVIEW Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Research Students interviewing for Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Research will have the opportunity to interact with faculty researchers as well as program administrators and current Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Research students in one, 45-minute small-group session. The session will focus on questions about an applicant’s research interests and experiences, other background information that qualifies them for the Program’s rigor, and their understanding of the Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Research Scholars Program. Current Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Research students will answer applicants’ questions and provide the student perspective on the Research Scholars program. The group interview session will last approximately 45 minutes. Hochberg-Miniaci Razor’s Edge Shark Talent Students who will be auditioning and interviewing for HochbergMiniaci Razor’s Edge Shark Talent will perform live or present samples of their art during their scheduled interview/audition time. Additionally, students will include an essay describing who they are as artists and why they are passionate about the arts. In the interview, which is held on the third floor of the Don Taft University Center in room 310, program leadership and Shark Talent students will ask questions to discover the engagement potential of each candidate. We are looking for students who are passionate about performing and creating artwork, and who want to continue to study the arts while in college. Our scholars have a passion for the arts and serve as arts ambassadors and student mentors. Our goal is to raise awareness and participation in the arts among NSU students and the local community. The interview session will last approximately 25 minutes. The Fischler Academy of Education The Fischler Academy of Education Students interviewing for The Fischler Academy will visit the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice. Interviews will be conducted in small groups and led by the Director of The Fischler Academy, faculty members, and current students. During the interview, the focus will be on understanding a candidate’s motivations, their professional goals, and how their past experiences have prepared them to thrive as a member of the program. Huizenga Business Innovation Academy Huizenga Business Innovation Academy Students interviewing for the Huizenga Business Innovation Academy will have the opportunity to visit the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship. The Director of the Huizenga Academy will conduct one-on-one interviews with a faculty member or a Dean of the College of Business. Questions will focus on a candidate’s entrepreneurial experiences and goals, their creativity and teamwork skills, and how they would plan to use the start-up venture funding provided by the program. The interview session will last approximately 30 minutes. Presidential Scholars Presidential Scholars Students interviewing for the Presidential Scholars Program will have the opportunity to meet with NSU Faculty and staff. NSU staff and faculty will conduct a group process activity and roundtable interviews. The questions will focus on the students’ personal characteristics and goals, leadership and mentorship experiences and the student’s passion and interest in NSU. The interview will last approximately 60 minutes.
