It is the time of year when we reflect on accomplishments, and this report describes the research development, technology transfer, clinical trial, and sponsored funding activity in fiscal year 2015. Our offices help to advance the excellence of research, scholarship, and creative activity at NSU by providing central services in research policy, compliance, contract development and negotiation, technology transfer, economic development, research administration, and communications. From proposal development to technology transfer, our offices assist investigators at every stage of the research process. As an institution, we think boldly. Today’s challenges are complex and the solutions require resources of innovation, expertise, and infrastructure. Collaborations that engage multiple disciplines and cross the borders of NSU colleges and the university will leverage our strengths to produce significant outcomes. We work to reach beyond our institutional borders to find partners who share our bold vision. Whether we are engaging in team science with other institutions or launching joint ventures with industry, forming new partnerships is one of our priorities. Our faculty members are recognized as innovators and thought leaders, as demonstrated by their publications in leading journals, prestigious awards, and success in acquiring external funding. Across the breadth of the university, faculty members are engaged in research projects to improve patient care, make new drug therapeutic discoveries, treat mental health disorders, and examine the forces that impact our oceans. The university continues to expand its research enterprise with the addition of new faculty researchers and new academic and industry collaborations. By sharing ideas, pooling resources, and collaborating on findings that promote innovative research, Nova Southeastern University and its partners create real-world change for the benefit of the public.
