College of Health Care Sciences Campaign Priorities

“I fully credit having earned my Doctorate of Health Sciences at NSU with the recent advances in my career in academic leadership. With this degree, I was able to stand for promotion and tenure and am now a tenured, full professor of P.A. studies. I was also able to meet the educational requirements for my past role as associate dean and now for my new role as dean of the School of Health Sciences. “I particularly enjoyed the Summer Institute where the online students came together for ground-based coursework. Having interacted with my colleagues online, it was wonderful to meet them face to face and to converse with faculty and administrators in person. My fondest NSU memory came at the culmination of my studies. It was so moving to stand on stage in my doctoral academic regalia and to be hooded with my doctoral hood and then to receive my D.H.Sc. diploma from the dean.” —William Kohlhepp, D.H.Sc Class of 2007 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Dean, School of Health Science, Quinnipiac University “Dr. (Morton) Diamond was a presence in my life as a P.A. student who would accept nothing less than excellence. Today, he is a beloved mentor and friend who continues to inspire me to be better tomorrow than I am today. My hope is for physician assistants to make a meaningful impact on the adoption rate of VATS lobectomy by becoming skilled assistants, thereby facilitating the surgeon’s ability to be successful.” —Stafford Scott Balderson, PA-C Class of 1998 CVT Surgical Physician Assistant Department of Surgery, Duke University COLLEGE OF HEALTH CARE SCIENCES VOICES “My time at NSU as a physician assistant student in the College of Health Care Sciences has by far been one of the most valuable and unforgettable experiences in my life. Although it is a rigorous academic program, I have forged lifelong friendships, acquired new skills, and accomplished things I once thought were impossible. My years at NSU have played a huge role in making me the person I am today, and I am forever grateful to the faculty, staff, and my classmates for being a part of this journey.” —Rebecca Urrutia, B.S.
