Nova Southeastern University | 27 1. Applicants must be graduates of schools accredited by the Commission on Accredita- tion of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Graduates of physical therapy schools in other countries are also eligible, with review of academic credentials by an appropri- ate agency and review of TOEFL scores. 2. Selection of students for the Ph.D. program is based on prior academic performance, clinical experience, and references. 3. An applicant must hold either a D.P.T. (Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy) degree, an advanced or entry-level master’s degree in physical therapy, or a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy with a master’s degree in any other discipline. 4. Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the TOEFL, when appro- priate, is required. PH.D. PROGRAM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS PH.D. PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCEDURES All applicants must submit, or be responsible for the submission of, 1. a completed application form along with a nonrefundable application fee of $50 2. official transcripts sent directly to the EPS from all undergraduate, professional, and graduate institutions attended 3. three letters of evaluation from individuals who can evaluate the applicant’s perfor- mance as a physical therapist and/or the applicant’s potential for doctoral studies (At least one of the references must come from a physical therapy faculty member with a terminal research doctoral degree.) 4. official GRE scores or other standardized test scores, when appropriate; TOEFL scores, if appropriate After an evaluation of credentials, qualified applicants may be contacted for a tele- phone interview. Applicants who have completed international coursework are required to have course- work evaluated for U.S. equivalence. Please refer to page 29.
