College of Pharmacy 33 This year, students will travel to Spain with Shepherd and Jesús Sánchez, Ph.D., associate professor and a native of Granada, Spain, to study with faculty members in Salamanca, Spain, and visit pharmaceutical sites in Sala- manca, Madrid, and Granada. Past travel study programs have visited China, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Puerto Rico, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Publications and Presentations Peter Gannett , Ph.D., associate dean of research and graduate education, coauthored a paper, “Selection of Single-Stranded DNA Molecular Recognition Elements Against Exotoxin A Using a Novel Decoy-SELEX Method and Sensitive Detection of Exotoxin A in Human Serum,” in the October 2015 issue of BioMed Research International . Stephanie Gernant , Pharm.D., assistant professor of pharmacy practice, coauthored a paper, “Development and Evaluation of a Multidisciplinary Controlled Substances Committee Within a Patient-Centered Medical Home,” in the November/December 2015 issue of the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association . Anastasios Lymperopoulos , Ph.D., FAHA, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, together with Pharm.D. student Katie A. McCrink (’18), published a research editorial, “The Clinical Implications of Beta1-Adrenoceptor Pharmacogenetics for Heart Failure Therapy,” in the July 1–August 28, 2015, online issue of The Pharmacogenomics Journal .
