PERSPECTIVES • WINTER/SPRING 2013 40 CARDIOPULMONARY SCIENCES • WEST PALM BEACH Marianne Jankowski, D.H.Sc., M.B.A., M.P.H., RRT, has been named chair of the new Department of Cardiopulmonary Sci- ences and program director of the Respi- ratory Therapy Program at the CHCS’s West Palm Beach site. Dr. Jankowski, who is originally fromNew Jersey but has been a Florida resident since 1997, holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Health, and a doctorate in Health Science, which she received from NSU. Jankowski has worked in various clinical settings in- cluding rehab, critical care, long-term care, and serving populations ranging from infants to adults. In her new role, Dr. Jankowski hopes to make this first professional bachelor’s de- gree program the hallmark of respiratory therapy education. Plans also are under- way to establish a master’s degree pro- gram in this field. She also looks forward to increasing the understanding of the profession so respiratory therapists can be utilized in the various settings in which they are trained.
