Students who receive an incomplete (I) will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony and will incur no additional tuition charge. The student’s degree will not be approved nor conferred until the incomplete is satisfied. Degree approval is required prior to sending the student’s name to the Florida Board of Nursing. Graduate Academic Programs Post-Licensure Student Practicum or Clinical Requirements Students in practicum and/or clinical rotations may have additional requirements including, but not limited to, criminal background checks, basic life support, immunizations, and health forms. M.S.N.—Traditional Program Description The M.S.N.—Traditional program offers additional education for B.S.N.-prepared nurses working or interested in the areas of nursing education, nursing informatics, executive nurse leadership, and advanced population health. These courses are taught online by faculty members with advanced preparation and extensive experience in the areas of specialization. For students who have a bachelor’s degree that is not in nursing, NSU offers a bridge course once a year during the fall term that will prepare the nurse to pursue the M.S.N. degree in the following semester. Courses are offered in an online format. Students are required to be continuously enrolled in the program by taking at least one graduate course each term. Exit Requirements for M.S.N. Program All students must meet with their adviser during the last semester of enrollment and review their Degree Works report and completion of all required courses. All students must apply for graduation online and are responsible for the graduation fee payment prior to conferral of degree. Degrees cannot be conferred if there are any financial and/or library holds remaining on the student’s account. All students who attend hybrid classes are required to attend the graduation ceremony. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program Descriptions This M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. program offers additional education for experienced B.S.N. nurses interested in obtaining an M.S.N./Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (A.P.R.N.) degree.
