Health Professions Division | 17 M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. Admissions Requirements Applicants for the M.S.N.—Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program are selected for admission based on application content, academic record, professional nursing licensure, and evaluation forms. Admission to the A.P.R.N. program with concentrations in Family Nurse Practitioner and Gero-Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner requires 1. a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (The nursing degree must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing [ACEN]—formerly the National League for Nursing Accrediting [NLNAC]—or by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [CCNE].)* 2. a current, active, state of Florida R.N. license (The license must remain active, without discipline, throughout the program.) 3. completion of a college-level statistics course (from a mathematics department) with a grade of C or better 4. one full year of current clinical experience (direct patient care) 5. CV/résumé 6. that applicants must live within a 150-mile drive from the program campus Start Dates: January* and August Length: Eight terms—full-time study Degree: M.S.N.—Advanced Practice Registered Nurse *Students who enter the M.S.N. program without a B.S.N. will only be allowed to enter the program in August. They will be required to enroll in NSG 500B—Transition to Advanced Nursing Practice in the first semester of admission to the M.S.N. program. Transfer Credits No more than 6 graduate credits may be transferred into the M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. program from other graduate nursing programs. Courses will be evaluated by the program direc- tor and the associate dean on an individual basis for credit toward NSU’s M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. program. Their decision will be final. To be considered for credit, a course must have been taken at an accredited graduate program and be the equivalent of a course offered in the NSU M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. program. The student must have earned a grade of B or better in the course. Students must submit the syllabus of any course for which they are seeking credit directly to the program director. Additional documentation may be required by the program director before credit may be granted. Only courses completed prior to the student’s matriculation into NSU’s M.S.N.—A.P.R.N. program will be considered for transfer credit.
