Parenting Place Summer 2017

MAILMAN SEGAL CENTER FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT • 3 n PARENT/CHILD CLASSES (AGES 6 WEEKS–5 YEARS) Classes for families with young children to enjoy as they learn, play, and grow together. These active, developmentally appropriate, and always fun-filled classes are taught by highly trained and enthusiastic early childhood professionals. Each class provides an opportunity for newborns, toddlers, and pre- schoolers to actively participate in play-based, enriching programs while parents get to know other families, find solutions to parenting challenges, and share special times with their children. n TRANSITION TO PRESCHOOL This program is designed to support children as they transition to preschool. Children learn to make friends, seek help from adults, separate from their parent(s), learn about classroom routines, and participate in a preschool class. To encourage the separation process, parents can choose to take turns attending classes on alternate days. The transition program helps your child become more independent and self-confident. (Parents must remain on campus while their children participate in these classes.) n JUST FOR KIDS! CLASSES (AGES 2½–5 YEARS) Creative programs offering preschool-aged children the opportunity to participate in fun and interesting art, music, and science classes while tapping into hidden talents and developing skills important for later school success. n PARENT RESOURCES Parenting young children is both a joyous and a challenging responsibility. The more information and support a family has, the better prepared they will be to make decisions that best serve them and their children. For families with newborns to pre- schoolers, our programs offer knowledge, dialogues with other families, and professional guidance to raise confident, cooperative, responsible, and happy children.
