4 | Sports Science PROGRAM OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION NSU’s Master of Science (M.S.) in Sports Science focuses on human performance. Re- search conducted by our stellar faculty includes the areas of body composition, exercise performance, sports neuroscience, sports biomechanics, sports supplements, and elite athletics. Graduates are encouraged to pursue Ph.D. programs in the biomedical sciences (e.g., exercise science, neuroscience, kinesiology). NSU’s M.S. in Sports Science is delivered in a hybrid format, providing students with a balance between online instruction and an intensive, on-campus laboratory experience. Students explore the core courses at a master’s degree-level and directly apply practical skills in the lab. They will have a challenging and rewarding research experience with the guidance of the university’s distinguished professors. Research can include nutrigenom- ics, sports neuroscience, and the role of genes in exercise, as well as traditional research such as body composition and performance. Prospective students can apply to begin classes for fall, winter, or summer semesters. NSU M.S. in Sports Science students can continue working while pursuing this degree. NSU’s M.S. in Sports Science program faculty members have started sports science-focused nonprofits, including the International Society of Sports Nutrition and the Society for Neurosports.
