The program also reserves the right to withhold a verification statement if serious violations of any program policies occur. Serious violations that may result in such actions include, but are not limited to, • harm to a patient, client, faculty, or preceptor • theft or misuse of others’ property and protected identity • drug or alcohol use while in a facility or attending program events • failure to disclose criminal charges or investigations • violation of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Code of Ethics H. Graduation Requirements Graduation requirements are detailed within the main section of this student handbook. In addition, students in the M.S. in Nutrition degree professional practice concentration (RDN) are eligible for graduation and to receive an ACEND Verification Statement, when the student • satisfactorily completes, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, or higher, and within three years (9 semesters) of matriculation, the course of study required for the concentration (a minimum of 71 credit hours) • successfully completes all supervised practice and performance competency requirements • successfully passes the comprehensive examination Upon satisfactory completion of degree requirements, the student is expected to attend, in person, the commencement program, at which time the degree is conferred. Students who do not plan to attend the commencement ceremonies must notify the program office before the established deadline for the commencement application. I. Professionalism The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and its credentialing agency, the Commission on Dietetic Registration, believe it is in the best interest of the profession and the public it serves to have a Code of Ethics in place that provides guidance to dietetics practitioners in their professional practice and conduct. As members of an ACEND-accredited professional training program, students are subject to this Code of Ethics and are strongly advised to maintain active membership within the academy to stay abreast of current professional issues, benefits, and communications.
