Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (KPCOM)—Osteopathic Medicine Program 2024–2025 177 Any applicant applying for readmission after being dismissed or voluntarily withdrawn must do so through the Office of Admissions of the HPD and must follow the same procedure as any new applicant. All readmissions are determined solely at the discretion of the dean. The student’s prior academic record will remain part of their overall academic record and will be recorded on the permanent transcript. If readmitted, none of the student’s prior grades will be used in calculating the student’s new grade point average. If a student is withdrawn from the program due to a prolonged absence of greater than 180 days, the student may apply for readmission to a class to start at the point in the curriculum in which the student left off. To be considered for readmission, the candidate must provide adequate evidence that the conditions and/or factors that caused the prior withdrawal have changed significantly, so there is reasonable expectation that the applicant can now perform satisfactorily if readmitted. Grievances Not Related to Grades Any student has the right to seek redress of a grievance with immunity from disciplinary action or retaliation consistent with local, state, and federal rules, as well as regulations and laws. If the grievance is related to perceived discrimination, please refer to the university’s Equal Employment Opportunity/ Nondiscrimination Policy of the NSU Student Handbook for further information. For a student to redress a nongrade-related grievance not related to perceived discrimination, the student must use the following procedures: 1. If the grievance is related to any preclinical course (not grades), the student should bring the grievance to the Office of Preclinical Education. 2. If the grievance is related to any clinical rotation (not grades), the student should bring the grievance to the Office of Clinical Education. 3. If the grievance is related to any other matter, the student should bring the grievance to the Office of Student Affairs. 4. I f the student is not satisfied with the solution, the student should bring the grievance to the executive associate dean on the student’s home campus. 5. If the student is not satisfied with the solution, the student should bring the grievance to the Office of the Dean.
