Clinical Rotation Grading a. Preceptor Requirements Only physicians who hold current medical license and who are AOA or ABMS board-certified or boardeligible in the specialty being taught may serve as physician faculty/rotation preceptors in the patient care environment. M3 students are responsible for notifying the Office of Clinical Education at the start of each core rotation—within one business day—who their preceptor of record is for that rotation. Failure to do so may result in the student not receiving credit for the rotation and having to repeat the rotation, which may delay transitioning to the M4 year or graduation. M4 students must notify the Office of Clinical Education, at least 30 days prior to the start of any elective rotation, so that preceptor’s credentials can be verified.
