Students will learn the theory and application of CAD/CAM technologies and 3D printing to fabricate single crowns, inlays, onlays, implant crowns, and other prostheses. (1 credit) CDM 4240—Advanced Treatment Planning This course applies the principles and guidelines for comprehensive dental treatment planning for multidisciplinary complex cases. Senior students are expected to recognize these advanced cases and understand treatment planning sequences utilizing skills and methodology previously developed in the D2 and D3 treatment planning courses. The course will be composed of interactive lectures and small-group discussions. (1 credit) CDM 4410—Clinical Fixed Prosthodontics This clinical experience consists of preparing and placing anterior and posterior fixed partial dentures and single coronal restorations. Restorations may be of full gold, metalceramic, all ceramic, or CAD/CAM generated. Restorations on implants are an integral part of the clinical experience. All clinical treatment is accomplished under the direct supervision of faculty members. (13 credits) CDM 3004—Advanced Prosthodontic Predoctoral Experiences This advanced education clinical elective intends to enhance the education of predoctoral students in the area of prosthodontics. Students will be an active member of the team during clinical procedures, such as treatment planning, both conventionally and digitally; treatment of full-mouth rehabilitations cases; and surgical placement of dental implants; together with conversion cases. As they attend the elective, planned over several weeks, students will have the opportunity to experience the daily operations of a prosthodontic practice, participating in prosthodontics and interdisciplinary seminars, literature reviews, and digital laboratory and other experiences. Students will participate at an advanced level in scanning, designing, and fabrication of digital dentures and surgical guides, while also balancing the analog and digital world for fixed and removable prosthodontic treatment. (1 credit) CDM 4411—Clinical Removable Prosthodontics Clinical application of preclinical skills in complete and removable partial dentures, overdentures on teeth, and implants are accomplished on patients. All patients are treated in the comprehensive care format with emphasis on the whole head and neck. All clinical treatment is accomplished under the direct supervision of faculty members. (13 credits) CDM 412H—Honors Program in Prosthodontics Advanced students with a high interest in prosthodontics attend advanced prosthodontic seminars and gain advanced experience in clinical prosthodontics, treating more complex patients.
