NSU Horizons Spring/Summer 2009
Candace White, a second-year student at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, is a passionate advocate for helping those less fortunate than herself. Despite the many academic demands of being a medical student, she willingly spends the little free time she has volunteering with local high school participants of Medical Explorers, a program for students interested in the health care field, and at health fairs throughout South Florida. White has also dedicated many volunteer hours on enriching medical outreach missions to Jamaica and Nicaragua. “Having the opportunity to work with classmates and physicians to problem solve and determine what diseases or problems may be occurring with patients is exciting,” said White, who also served as president of her class during 2008. “The ability to take our learning beyond the classroom is a truly life-changing experience.” White and more than 28,000 students at NSU are exposed to invaluable, hands-on experiences— giving them the perspective they need to make an impact in the world. The Office of Annual Giving supports the colleges, schools, and programs at NSU. By making an annual gift, you can help NSU continue to create learning opportunities that benefit our students and the communities they serve. Please consider making your annual gift today. There are a variety of ways to contribute. Visit www.nova.edu/changingtheworld to submit your annual gift online, or call (954) 262-2406 to learn about other giving opportunities. Thank you. Give them an inch, and our students will give back to the world.
