Others recognize that while their drinking may not be severe enough to war- rant treatment, they do have alcohol-re- lated problems. To what extent, then, might it be possible to encourage individuals to change their behavior without formal, out- side intervention? This is the question that fueled the research of two Nova Southeast- ern University (NSU) clinical psycholo- gists. Their research, and that of many of their peers at NSU’s Center for Psycho- logical Studies (CPS), aims to find new, seemingly simple solutions to some of so- ciety’s troubling, everyday problems.
