44 NSU HORIZONS As NSU, its alumni, donors, and community members surpass the goal for the Realizing Potential campaign, we thought it might be fun to take a look back at where it all began— a humble storefront on East Las Olas Boulevard. The university officially opened on Friday, December 4, 1964, and its first graduating class comprised students receiving Ph.D. degrees.
