6 | M.D. Program COURSE OF STUDY HYBRID, PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING CURRICULUM NSU MD’s course of study is focused on patients, teamwork, and problem-solving. The college’s program was developed by a team of 100 medical educators, physicians, and researchers with decades of total field experience. The innovative curriculum integrates didactics on ethics and humanities, genomics, interprofessional collaboration, biomedical informatics, and leadership. There is a heavy emphasis on research, technology, and innovation. Our students • train to become active learners • work in smaller groups (7–8 students per cohort) • learn to solve medical problems through active inquiry under faculty facilitator direction Using clinical cases and a team-based approach, students solve complex problems by honing their diagnosis skills. The program leverages both simulated patients and real-world examples. Did You Know? As compared to passive, lecture-style teaching, NSU MD’s curriculum is designed to prepare you to interact with patients and health care team members more effectively. PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE Students are provisionally admitted to a degree-seeking program based on a review of unofficial transcripts or other specific program admission requirements. However, this admission includes a condition that final and official transcripts, documents, and requirements must be received prior to matriculation. If these final and official transcripts, documents, and/or requirements are not received by that time, the student will not be allowed to matriculate. Financial aid will not be disbursed to a provisional/conditional student until he or she has been fully admitted as a regular student (all admissions requirements have been approved by the college/program admissions office). Students who have an unpaid balance 30 days from the start of the term will be assessed a $100 late fee.
