2024 FACT BOOK 51 2021 • The Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. Throughout its entire existence, the library has operated as a private-public partnership between NSU and Broward County. • In fall 2021, NSU’s incoming undergraduate class included 2,000 students, nearly matching the university’s largest-ever undergraduate class in 2020. • The Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation opened on the fifth floor of the Alvin Sherman Library. It immediately began incubating innovative start-up businesses. Soon after its opening, the Levan Center was awarded a $742,000-grant as part of the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s “Build to Scale” program. • The state-of-the-art HCA University Hospital opened at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus. As part of NSU’s partnership with HCA, the hospital will offer additional learning experiences for students. Several NSU clinics will relocate to the hospital’s Medical Office Building in 2022. • The graduate counseling program in the College of Psychology received its first-ever eight-year accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body for graduate counseling programs in the United States. 2022 • The NSU Drs. Kiran & Pallavi Patel International Dental Program expanded to NSU’s Tampa Bay Regional Campus. The program, intended for internationally trained dentists, occupies a 19,000-square-foot space, complete with simulation labs and a 69-chair student clinic. • The inaugural M.D. class graduated from the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine. • In the fall, NSU’s incoming undergraduate class broke records again, with 2,277 students. • The NSU Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences expanded its M.S. in Anesthesia program to a new education site in Denver, Colorado. 2023 • NSU won three NCAA DII National Championships—in men’s basketball, women’s swimming, and men’s golf. • Following a major gift, the College of Pharmacy was officially named the NSU Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. • The Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine received full accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). • The H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship was accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. • Thanks to a major gift in support of ALS research, an institute and center were officially named the David and Cathy Husman Neuroscience Institute at NSU Health, and the NSU Health Cathy J. Husman ALS Center. The gift also created the David and Cathy Husman Endowed Chair for Neuroscience. • The Super League Fort Lauderdale professional women’s soccer franchise announced that NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus will serve as its home.
