92 NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Colleges and Academic Centers NSU University School NSU University School, founded in 1971, is a fully accredited, college preparatory day school that provides academic programs for students in preschool (starting at 18 months) through grade 12. The school provides a supportive environment for the development of children, teaching them to think, solve problems, and develop leadership skills within an ethical framework. Programming at NSU University School is individualized and exceptional. The campus is made up of Preschool and Lower, Middle, and Upper School buildings, as well as two Sports Centers that house basketball courts, locker rooms, classrooms, and athletic training rooms. The campus also features the state-of-the-art Aquatics Center featuring an Olympic-sized swimming pool, as well as the 70,800-square- foot AutoNation Center for the Arts that houses a 750-seat auditorium; an art gallery; dry and wet art studios; choral, band, and forensics practice rooms; and more. PRESCHOOL The NSU University School Preschool provides early care and education for children 18 months through 4 years in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Teachers use the 7C Curriculum Framework to help children reach challenging, but achievable, goals in the domains of critical thinking, concept development, communication, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, and coordination. The preschool helps children learn to think outside the box and develop creative-thinking skills to solve problems, communicate with others, and work on projects. Children are provided with key experiences in several different areas at the preschool. These include music and movement, health and fitness, foreign languages, and character education; engineering, programming, robotics, coding, and technology; arts (fine and digital); mindfulness (cooking, healthy living, and yoga); science and research; and environmental science (including sustainability, gardening, ecosystems, and weather).
