38 INTERNAL AWARD HIGHLIGHTS Three streams of internal investment and recognition combine to amplify research and scholarship by NSU’s scientists, engineers, humanists, and artists, as well as our business, law, and medical professionals and other academicians. Here is a sampling of recent award recipients. PRESIDENT’S FACULTY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT GRANT Launched in 1998, this program provides seed money for new research areas and helps advance current initiatives to new levels of competitiveness for external funding. This grant program funded a total of $314,384 for 23 unique projects in FY 2022. Both past and present awards are featured in this publication. 01 PROVOST’S RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 02 Originally awarded to one faculty member, this 12-year-old series now offers awards for early career and established faculty members in two disciplinary categories. QUALITY OF LIFE (QOL) APPLIED RESEARCH GRANT 03 For two decades, NSU has worked with community partners to identify QOL grant categories based upon issues that impact Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach County residents.
