4 | Doctor of Health Science HYBRID DISTANCE-RESIDENTIAL DEGREE NSU’s D.H.Sc. program admits applicants from a variety of advanced clinical health professions, as well as health administrators or managers and public health practitioners. Diverse graduate education, work, and life experiences—together with demonstrated capacity to pursue a rigorous course of doctoral study and increasingly more responsible positions in health care—are qualities our applicants share. Applicants also must hold a master’s degree from an accredited college or university. The D.H.Sc. program is designed to be completed in a distance-learning format via NSU’s state-of-the-art, web-based distance-learning technology. Students can complete most of their coursework online from their own home or office, without compromising career or other obligations. Two courses require an on-campus institute. Those institutes are offered in a one-week format in the summer or as an intensive, three-day session during the winter term. The D.H.Sc. equips health professionals with in-depth knowledge of current issues in health care. The student gains the knowledge necessary to identify and understand the changing health care environment and the impact these changes have on clinical practice, education, administration, and research.
