Student Access to Grades To fully comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, exam grades, assignment grades, and course grades are not posted in publicly accessible areas. Grades may only be accessed by the student through any of the following means: • Students can review their own Canvas profile, where the course director may provide exam grades and assignment grades. Final course grades may or may not be posted in Canvas at the discretion of the course director. Final course grades are accessible to students via their own Self-Service Banner profile. • Grades may be provided by the course director to each individual student. B. Technology Resources for Students The NSU home page is nova.edu. The M.D.S. home page is dental.nova.edu/mds. Self-Service Banner The Self-Service Banner website is ssb.nova.edu. The Self-Service Banner help desk can be reached at pinhelp@nsu.nova.edu or (954) 262-4850/800- 541-6682, ext. 24850. Once students are admitted to the M.D.S. program, the Office of Innovation and Information Technology (OIIT) assigns and mails all students a personal identification number (PIN). Students’ PINs provide access to the Self-Service Banner system. Self-Service Banner is designed to assist students with online registration, general financial aid information with links to recommended loan agency sites, class schedule information, course catalogs, and course listings. Self-Service Banner also provides personal information where students can change their addresses, phone numbers, emergency contact information, and view or print their unofficial transcripts and degree information. Office 365 NSU’s OIIT uses the Office 365 cloud-based platform. Information is available at nova.edu/oiit/office365/index.html. Online Course Access and Canvas All online and/or hybrid courses that a student has registered for will be accessed through Canvas. This is a web-based, course-management system designed to allow students and faculty members to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face to-face teaching. The access to all instructional resources, such as, lectures, handouts, manuals, PowerPoint presentations, videos, photographs, pictures, articles, and web links is limited to students who are enrolled in the course and is not for public distribution.
