College of Dental Medicine (CDM)—Predoctoral Program 2024–2025 133 • For courses graded numerically (i.e., from 0–100), an unexcused absence to any/all assigned class-related or clinic-related orientation or one-time sessions will result in a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. The remediation assignment will be determined by the course director. • For courses graded on a Pass/Fail or letter grade basis, an unexcused absence to any/all assigned class-related or clinic-related orientation or one-time sessions will result in a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of RP or C(E), respectively, if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. Unexcused Absences from Preclinical Laboratory Rotations • One unexcused absence—The student will receive a 15-point deduction in the final course grade if the course is a numerically graded course. For letter grades, this deduction will result in a lower letter grade accordingly. If the course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis, the student will receive a failing grade of F, with a maximum grade of RP after completion of additional assignments as per the course director. If the course is graded on the alpha letter grade basis, the student will receive one alpha letter grade lower on the letter grade scale (example: an earned grade of B will become a B-). • Two or more unexcused absences—For courses graded numerically, the student will receive a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. Combination Courses Referred to in Sections iii, iv, or v (Clinical Rotations, Orientation or One-time Sessions, Preclinical Laboratory Rotations) • Attendance to all assigned rotations, class sessions, laboratory sessions, and/or orientations is mandatory. • For courses graded numerically (i.e., from 0–100), one unexcused absence to any of the sessions in the course schedule, of any type, will result in a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. The use of computers, telephones, or other electronic equipment for noneducational purposes during lectures is considered unprofessional conduct and is disruptive to the learning environment. The instructor may dismiss anyone from any class who is involved in disruptive behavior.
