Students who do not complete specified requirements and/or competency examinations in numerically graded clinical or clinic rotation courses as specified by the course director by the end of a single semester in a single-semester course will receive a failing grade of F with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. For courses graded on a Pass/Fail basis, the student will receive a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of RP if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. For courses and students graded on the alpha letter grade basis, the student will receive a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E), if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. c. S tudents who do not complete all clinic and clinic rotation assignments, clinical competency examinations, and specified requirements in numerically graded courses by the end of the D3 academic year and the end of the D4 academic year, respectively, will receive a failing grade of F with a maximum grade of C(E) if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. For courses graded on a Pass/Fail basis, the student will receive a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of RP if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. For courses and students graded on the alpha letter grade basis, the student will receive a failing course grade of F, with a maximum grade of C(E), if the student passes the failed course after successful remediation. d. Remediation assignments will be determined by the course director. e. T he student has until June 30 of the summer semester of the D4 year to complete all degree requirements and competency examinations without additional tuition charged. Student fees are required as per university policy. Subject to the dean’s discretion, if the degree requirements and the competency examinations are not completed by June 30 after the D4 year, the student will be required to pay tuition for the summer semester and every semester thereafter until all program requirements and clinical competency examinations are completed. 4. Course Failures, Remediation, and Reexamination Predoctoral students who fail up to two courses in a term (i.e., earn a grade of F) will be provided with one opportunity in each course for reexamination following a period of remediation. This remediation may include a review of course materials assigned by the course director, assigned readings, tutoring sessions arranged by the student, or other types of review sessions conducted by the course director or a designee. The course director is responsible for writing to students who have failed a course and informing them of the procedures that will be used for remediation of the particular academic deficiency and subsequent reexamination to provide these students with an opportunity to pass the course. The format of the reexamination may be of any exam type, at the discretion of the course director. Predoctoral students who fail three or more courses in a term may not be eligible for course remediation. Successful remediation of a failed course will result in the following grade changes: • For courses graded on a Pass/Fail basis, the course grade of F, will be changed to a grade of RP. • For courses and students graded on the alpha letter grade basis, the course grade of F will be changed to a maximum grade of C(E). Successful remediation of all failed courses must occur prior to the beginning of the fall semester of the next academic year.
