Student requests to view/review/obtain their examination after exam administration is at the discretion of the course director. i. Clinical Competency Examinations are conducted as per the CDM department chairs or designee and in accordance with all NSU Codes of Conduct. j. Remediation reexaminations are handled as stated in the section on Course Failures, Remediation, and Reexamination in this student handbook. 3. Incomplete Coursework Didactic Curriculum—Incomplete Grades for Didactic Courses When a student fails to complete all the requirements of a didactic course, the student shall receive a grade of incomplete (I). An I does not imply that a student has produced inadequate work, but reflects the student’s inability to complete required work according to the course director’s due date and requirements. An I will be changed to a passing grade upon the student’s satisfactory completion of the course requirements according to the time frame described in the next paragraph. A change from an I to a grade must occur within 30 days (exclusive of holidays and weekends) from the start of the next academic semester. The time frame may be adjusted for students who have been granted an approved leave of absence. An I grade that is not successfully completed within this time frame will be the student’s earned failing grade or be converted to a failing grade of F, depending upon whether the course is graded numerically or Pass/Fail. In addition, if a student receiving a grade of I fails to provide documentation or information required to substantiate the incomplete, the grade of I will be converted to a failing grade of F, depending upon whether the course is graded numerically or Pass/Fail. Clinical Curriculum—Grades for Clinical Courses and Clinic Rotations A grade of incomplete (I) is earned by the student when there is a failure to complete all of the requirements for a course, including clinical competency examinations, due to extreme extenuating circumstances. An I grade will be changed to the student’s earned grade when all competency examinations and requirements are completed. For courses and students that are graded on a Pass/Fail (P/F) basis, the earned grade will be a P or F; for courses and students graded on the alpha letter grade basis, the grade will be the earned letter grade. A student who does not complete all requirements and competency examinations is expected to understand the following: a. Students who do not complete specified requirements and/or competency examinations or demonstrate progress in clinical or clinic rotation courses as specified by the course director by the end of an interim semester in a continuum course may receive an interim grade of NPR in a clinic or clinic rotation course. Continuum courses are those courses that span more than one semester. Therefore, the interim grade reflects progress during this span, and the final course grade is given at the end of the continuum.
