B. Academic Standing Every predoctoral student’s academic performance is reviewed each semester by the SPC, and a transcript is compiled for all students by the Office of the University Registrar. A copy of this transcript is available to the student, the Office for Academic Affairs, the SPC, the Office of Student Financial Assistance, and to other individuals or institutions when authorized by the student or the dean. The student’s official transcript includes • grades earned (including any remediated failing grades) • deficiencies (e.g., incompletes, failures, and probationary status) • semester grade point average (GPA) and cumulative GPA • withdrawal and/or leaves of absence Students are considered to be in good academic standing when they demonstrate the academic performance level and behavioral policies and protocols in accordance with the NSU Student Handbook. In addition, this includes when a student does not have current academic or behavioral deficiencies that the SPC considers eligible for placement on probation or higher level of disciplinary action, as per the determination of the dean and upheld by the Appeals Board. When a student is placed on the status of probation and/or suspension (please refer to page 137 for additional information on probation and other disciplinary actions), the student is considered to be NOT in good academic standing. This implies that all failures in previous courses have been successfully remediated, and all incomplete coursework and courses have been satisfactorily completed. A student who is not in good academic standing may be prohibited from participating in extracurricular or other student activities; holding office in any Nova Southeastern University organization; being elected to any honorary or other school organizations; or being approved by the dean as eligible to take national, state, or regional board examinations.
