College of Dental Medicine (CDM)—Predoctoral Program 2024–2025 110 Students who apply to postdoctoral training programs are responsible for providing applications, letters of recommendation, and transcripts to postdoctoral training program/residency program directors. 9. Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) The American Dental Education Association (ADEA), a national professional organization representing dental education, manages the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS). This service was developed to assist students with their application to any of the more than 700 participating postdoctoral dental education programs. PASS processes applications for programs in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics. The PASS centralized application service provides standardized information to participating programs, but is not involved in the appraisal or selection process. By using a standardized format, PASS simplifies the application process for the student by providing required biographical and academic data to the postdoctoral programs. The PASS application may be submitted either electronically or via traditional hard copy application through the mail. 10. Withdrawal from the CDM Withdrawal is a voluntary resignation by the student, in writing, to the dean via certified mail, or NSU-to-NSU email, under which the student surrenders all rights and privileges as a student in the CDM. Additionally, a student who does not register and/or attend classes, laboratory, clinic, and/or rotations for three consecutive business days (excluding official school holidays and weekends) without written notification to the dean’s office regarding the reason for the absence as well as the intention to continue studies, shall be considered withdrawn from the college’s predoctoral program. A student’s written withdrawal or an absence of three consecutive business days without written notification to the dean’s office is considered as permanent withdrawal and not reversible. To voluntarily withdraw from the program, the student must also contact the Office of CDM Student Services to complete the required documents. • Students withdrawing from the program before the end of the drop/add period has ended, as published by the NSU Office of the University Registrar, will have the courses of that same semester removed from the student’s transcript. • Students withdrawing from the program after the drop/add period, as published by the NSU Office of the University Registrar, will receive a transcript notation of withdrawn (W) for courses in that same semester on the student’s transcript. • Students withdrawing from the program without submitting and/or completing the required documentation may receive a failing grade for the courses in the semester during which they are withdrawing. No withdrawals are allowed once there are only three weeks left in a course/semester. Students failing to complete a course and/or semester at or after this time frame will receive the grade they earned as of their date of withdrawal, in each course.
