7 Through local, national, and global partnerships, NSU Law’s Field Placement Clinics provide you with the opportunity to work under the supervision of practicing lawyers in private or nonprofit law offices, governmental and administrative agencies, public interest organizations, or corporate legal departments. The Field Placement Clinics provide both paid and unpaid clinical opportunities. Individual placements are available throughout the United States. FIELD PLACEMENT CLINICS | Turning Theory into Practice In the Civil Field Placement Clinic, you gain transactional and litigation skills in several areas of law, including • corporate and business practice • intellectual property • environmental • international • health law • personal injury • human rights • real estate and land use • immigration • sports and entertainment Consumer Bankruptcy Field Placement Clinic — Represent actual clients in federal bankruptcy proceedings, as permitted by the Florida Limited Practice Act and the Rules of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Criminal Justice Field Placement Clinic — Intern full time in a prosecutor or public defender’s office, and handle real issues arising within the criminal justice system, under the supervision of practicing attorneys. Engage with criminal policy and procedural issues; enhance and improve your research and writing skills; learn practical aspects of a trial and witness preparation, along with ethical issues specific to criminal law; and participate in live depositions, hearings, and trials. Judicial Field Placement Clinic — Work as a judicial intern for state and federal courts. Witness firsthand the inner workings of judicial decision-making and the resolution of legal disputes, under the guidance of a Florida judge.
